'Achieving Excellence through mathematical enterprise'
Harris Upper Norwood is a new Harris Academy admitting students into the 6th form for the first time from September 2014. We will be working in partnership with the Harris Federation 6th Form to offer a blended curriculum of A-levels and BTEC Level 3 qualifications allowing students to select a pathway that is right for them, for example, a pure A Level combination of subjects, a pure BTEC curriculum or combination of A-level / BTEC courses. These courses will depend on your success in Year 11 and of course, your future aspirations.
Our 6th form curriculum will reflect the Academy specialism of Enterprise and Mathematics. We wil be offering Mathematics, Further Mathematics, all the Sciences as well as vocational / A-level courses relevant to the world of business and commerce, fro example, Accounting, Economics, ICT and Business. These will be complemented by a wider range of courses including modern foreign languages.
Many of our students in the 6th form will have leadership responsibilities to support the work of our new Academy. We will have a Head Boy and Head Girl working with other prefects to help launch and develop our new sixth form so it will be a huge success. We will therefore have fantastic opportunities to develop your wider communication, teamwork and leadership skills to complement your academic students.
We will have modern and up-to-date teaching facilities. We will be investing in new 6th form teaching spaces including a dedicated 6ht form ICT Study Base to ensure that students learn with the best teachers in the environment. Our teachers have an enterprising approach to teaching. Our teachers will work incredibly hard to ensure all students are fully prepared and challenged to do their very best.
You will have opportunities to work with other students in our 6th form and in particular students from Harris South Norwood. Harris South Norwood has a large successful 6ht form of over 370 students. Students speak very highly about their positive learning atmosphere and they would definitely recommend the Harris 6th form
We look forward to our new, Year 12 intake next year. Year 12 students will bring fresh and vibrant ideas that will helop make the new Academy even more successful. The 6th form will be role models for the whole Academy and their achievements in examinations and in securing places at the top universities will reflect the high aspirations we have for everyone and give students in Year 7-11 much needed role models.
